This Salon article discusses the existence of Caucasian slaves in pre-Civil War America. I knew they existed, but only in a peripheral sense.

I hate people.

I’m trying to move to Huntsville, VIA U-haul. So I called to reserve a truck for this weekend, and the guy at the place I call explains that they are booked up through the weekend. So…I call the next number in the list of U-haul dealers, and it turns out to be the same guy. I repeat my question, and he repeats politely that they are all booked. I’m satisfied with this, and go to the next number on the list. No answer. So I go to the next number. Disconnected. I go to the next number, and damned if I don’t get the same guy as the first two numbers. So, I decide to try and get a truck next week. I say, “I’d like to inquire about renting a truck?” And he says “WE ARE BOOKED.” and hangs up on me.
I proceed to call back and ask to speak to his manager, whom I chew out about his employees’ rude behavior, and explain to him in very colorful terms exactly WHY I will NOT be renting ANYTHING from “Grand Rental Station,” ever.

The Official Shotgun Rules Homepage Now everyone can read what you should already know. The next time someone calls this and I see a violation, (cause I’m printing it out in pocket form) you will be shot on sight.

On a trip to Arizona, about 5 years back, I took this picture.

I still resolve to move there some day.

If you don’t understand, my actual name is Kevin S. There. I ruined it for you.

I love Junkscience.com.

They’ve just proven that, by Ben&Jerry’s own reasoning, their ice cream is “unsafe” and should be taken off the market.

Ben & Jerry’s promotional literature, available at its “scoop shops” and on its web site, states, “Dioxin is known to cause cancer, genetic and reproductive defects and learning disabilities… The only safe level of dioxin exposure is no exposure at all.” Dioxin is a by-product of industrial processes and may also be created naturally through combustion of plant materials.

I’m trying to learn PHP. I hope I don’t get suspended.

I’m not sure whether this is real or myth. Titanium Studios supposedly has ported the original Quake to the Dreamcast.

Bloggers turn up when you least suspect it.

Kelli is another person from Florence, Alabama, and she runs a wonderfully-designed electric-blue blog:

After I read the Epinions reviews of Titan AE, I steeled myself to be underwhelmed this afternoon.

Frankly, I have no idea what those Epinions people really wanted out of this movie. It’s a cartoon, people! It’s made for kids! Of course, being a kid, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sure, the science was dreamed up by a high-school dropout, and the plot is run-of-the-mill sci-fi “exiles from Earth — must find home” fodder, but it is truly worth five bucks for an hour-and-a-half. I’d pay that much just to see really neato graphics; the rest was extra.
