Ooh, sonic weapons to combat mosquitos.

Wil Wheaton has a weblog. Which reminds me, I need to get Stand By Me on DVD.
I so want this table.
Hey kids! You can buy some ferrofluid and make your own weird magnetic sculptures!
Hundreds of people in southwestern Germany are complaining about a maddening buzzing noise. The noise only occurs at night, and does not seem to correlate to any known source of noise pollution, such as traffic noise or sounds made by electronic appliances.
The main page is here, but it’s in German, so use Babelfish to translate it.
I wonder if this could be linked with the Taos Hum heard in some spots around the world?
Another Minion added today: go visit Genie‘s page of madness!
Over the weekend, I worked on installing and configuring Cygwin/XFree86, which is a port of the XFree86 software, onto my Windows laptop and workstation. This allows me to run powerful UNIX-based apps from a remote server and have them displayed locally.
You can get the Cygwin installer here. Given about 500MB of space, this will install a fully-functional UNIX environment on your Windows system.
Cygwin/Xfree86 comes with TWM [tiny window manager] included, but since I think it’s ugly, I recommend downloading and installing the Blackbox window manager, located here.
