Cygwin

Over the weekend, I worked on installing and configuring Cygwin/XFree86, which is a port of the XFree86 software, onto my Windows laptop and workstation. This allows me to run powerful UNIX-based apps from a remote server and have them displayed locally.

You can get the Cygwin installer here. Given about 500MB of space, this will install a fully-functional UNIX environment on your Windows system.

Cygwin/Xfree86 comes with TWM [tiny window manager] included, but since I think it’s ugly, I recommend downloading and installing the Blackbox window manager, located here.

Giantkicks

Again, the ranks of my Evil Minions swell, with today’s addition of Giantkicks. Visit his page, and fear for your futures!

Dalek

Today? Today, we shall build Daleks. Tomorrow? Tomorrow we shall rule the world!

Evil

Of course, in order to take over the world, an Evil Overlord must stay on a strict budget.

Lasoo

I’m pretty impressed with Lasoo, even if the name is lame.

The site works rather like Yahoo Maps in reverse: input your location, select which kind of place you’re looking for, such as a Chinese restaurant, service station, or barber shop, and Lasoo will highlight the locations near you on a map.

Road Signs

I don’t know if any of you noticed, but there are secret military codes hidden in our road signs.

No, really.
