Unx goes to Mars
Yessir, the name “Unxmaal” will be engraved onto a plate that’ll be shipped to Mars in 2003.
Ahh, the lyrics to the Red Dwarf theme song:
I want to lie shipwrecked and comatose
Drinking fresh mango juice
Goldfish shoals nibbling at my toes
Fun, fun, fun in the sun, sun, sun
Fun, fun, fun in the sun, sun, sun
Yessir, the name “Unxmaal” will be engraved onto a plate that’ll be shipped to Mars in 2003.
This is just great. I spend months backing up all my albums to MP3 format, then backing up the MP3s to CDRoms. Today I find out that scientists have discovered a fungus that eats through compact discs.
I guess now I’ll have to engrave my files onto stone monoliths. This gives a new twist on the purpose for Stonehenge: it’s a Druidic warez site!
Has anyone ever successfully gotten a Flash PC Card (like from a Cisco router) to work in a laptop PCMCIA slot?
I know this has to work somehow. It seems to me that this would be a great intermediary step between floppies and CDRoms, as the Flash Cards hold up to 128MB and supposedly act like removable drives.
My pal Mark Goosby sent me several IT industry haikus that (I assume) he composed:

Hell yeah, I remember Automan! I’d say that show and the movie Tron were what shaped my love of technology.

Chicago’s WGN-TV recorded the final Bozo the Clown show today.
Washington, DC has exploding manholes.
Reading by Hand is an interesting commentary on how human hands have shaped human minds, and the possible effects of shifting education’s focus from tactile learning to more mental exercises.
The Egoless Admin is an excellent editorial that explains how to handle working in a technical position without losing your mind or hating your job.
