Library

Someday, when I have time, I’m gonna hack up Robert’s CueCat and scan all the books in my library.

No really, I am.

QOTD

Quote of the Day: “I stopped getting spam when I blocked all two-letter domain names.”

Anoto

Anoto is developing a map system of digitization on paper: every page printed with the Anoto system of near-invisible dots gets an absolute location on the Anoto grid system. When you write on Anoto-encoded paper with an Anoto-enabled pen, the pen creates a digital trace of what you do, storing the information in the pen until you mark the apropriate section of the page, such as a blank or check-box. The digitized information is then forwarded via Bluetooth to any specified server on the Internet.

Contagion

Dr. Paul W. Ewald, author of Plague Time, argues that most of the diseases we currently consider to be genetic or effects of lifestyle, such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, and atherosclerosis, instead have pathogenic causes.

Electric Sheep

Electric Sheep is a screensaver project that uses distributed processing to generate new fractal images for display.

Atlanta Growth

Here’s an excellent article detailing Atlanta’s growth from the mid 70s to the late 90s.

Black hellycoppers!

“A dozen U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopters, their lights out, descended from the night sky March 4 on a corner of Charlotte, N.C.”

Right.

PS2 Modchip

Doug sent me a link to a USB port modchip for the Playstation 2. Apparently, you have to own a GameShark2 and be able to solder one wire. If you don’t understand why you might need a modchip for your PS2, you don’t need one.
