Instead, researchers are finding more evidence that the native Indian populations were decimated by a viral infection very similar to ebola. The massive social and economic changes caused by Spanish colonization, coupled with the poor living conditions forced upon native populations, contributed to a rat-borne plague that wiped out up to 17 million people.

Good news for Kevin: the odds of dying via venomous snakes, lizards, and spiders are 1 in 20,406,462 for a one-year period.

Bad news for Kevin: those odds drop to 1 in 268,153 over a lifetime.

I’m sure they also drop significantly when someone has hidden eggsacs all over your room.

Thanks to my dad, I got a Victorinox CyberTool. This great little pocketknife has all the tools a hardware geek might need, from a socket driver and bits to scissors and pliers.

Yeah, I know, it’s named “CyberTool”, which is terribly reminiscent of something you’d hear in Lawnmower Man 2. I keep wanting to lisp the word “Cyber” any time I hear it.
