Atlanta

After two days of Nyquil-induced stupor, my cold cleared up enough that I was able to drive to Atlanta for the weekend. My network connection has been spotty (rather, nonexistent). I blame this entirely on Charter Cable‘s pathetically poor service. I’m hoping Dori will be able to find another cable ISP soon.

So far, I’ve not been able to see Hannibal, but I have had some awesome sushi at some Japanese place that I forget the name of.

Parisian Attack Monkeys!

Somebody from Unx’s deep, dark past sent me this story about Parisian street gangs using Barbary Apes in place of now-verboten vicious dogs.

Once again, there is no evidence linking us to this trend.

Gocho President

Eric Smith, President of Gocho Networks, comments on my original post:

_The Gocho E-1337 can tap into your existing car stereo via an antennae interface, wiring harness, or RCA at this time.

This pretty much covers 99.x% of units.

We’re really trying to avoid FM broadcast to your car stereo… the sound quality is poor overall with that method.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Oh, and the name is a “code name” we don’t have an official name out of trademark search, etc. yet… 🙂

LinDVD

Intervideo has announced the first legal software DVD player for Linux, LinDVD.

At first I thought “this sucks, and I’m never gonna buy it,” but then I realized that Intervideo never intended for me to be a direct customer. Instead, I suspect that this is designed for thin-client, set-top box machines, which would be a great niche for the OS and the player. I’d definitely buy this if it came wrapped inside an inexpensive palmtop DVD player.

Nyquil

I hate being sick. It offends me. I’m ok, though; I have my good friend Nyquil.

As an aside, doesn’t the slogan on the Vicks page seem vaguely obscene?
Help Make It Feel Better.
It’s probably just me.

LORD

Crikey! Watts has dug up terrible memory from my past: Legend Of the Red Dragon. I got into BBSes in ’95, which was pretty much the tail end of the era. I spent most of my time playing this game, and did well, because one of the sysops took pity on my newbie character and gave me about five million gold.

Weirder still, I met Jeff and Kevin while playing, though we didn’t meet in real life (or realize that we had even met) until some time later.
