For those of you who haven’t experienced the true joy that is UNIX, I give you the Ohio State University’s
Introduction to Unix.
According to The Register, “Amazon.co.uk carries out no security checks on messages posted on its site by the authors of books it sells,” so people are signing on with bogus Hotmail accounts and posing as book authors.
Some will point to this as yet another reason not to trust the validity of information on the Web; I refer to a quote by some dead guy: “Never trust anything you see, and only half of what you read.”
Unxmaal: Let’s go to the mall.
ShadowStitch: I’m not going to the mall, unless it’s to get Seaman.
Unxmaal: I don’t want Seaman.
ShadowStitch: Everyone wants Seaman; they just don’t know it yet.
(Jokes about talking to Seaman and playing with Seaman tastefully excluded.)
Oww.
Three more holes in my head.
Yay.
I’m currently testing out Mozilla Milestone 17, and I must say: download it and try it now.
This release proves that Mozilla has finally reached a level of stability that competes with IE, and I’m truly impressed. I’d installed Mozilla M15 a while back, and promply uninstalled it about five minutes later.
What I like about Mozilla:
- It’s fast. No, I mean, it’s very fast. Pages load considerably faster in M17 than in IE5.5 .
- It’s small, weighing in at about six megs.
- It has full PNG graphics support, including transparency.
- The security and privacy features are wonderful! Mozilla allows you to disable cookies completely, or allow them to be set, providing they are only sent back to the originating server. Furthermore, Mozilla allows this same amount of control over images. This means that you can disable all images that aren’t stored on the website you’re currently viewing, such as banner ads. Furthermore, you can control this on a per-site basis, from the “Tasks -> Security and Privacy” menu.
- Mozilla is skinnable. You can change the interface whenever you want.
- When you view a page’s source, it shows it in pretty color-coded text.
Conversation overheard in my house:
Rod: Kevin, we’re gonna drag you out of this house!
Kevin: Why! I leave the house all the time!
Rod: When was the last time?
Kevin: Like, …. yesterday!
And there was a great disturbance in the Force: Actor Sir Alec Guinness dies at 86 – August 6, 2000. Obi Wan was my favorite. How sad.
Register to vote, you apathetic pigs.
I love explodingdog. I love it so much that I gave it a hallowed spot in the Sacred Box O’ Comix. Go there now.
I’ve been informed that some of you heathens don’t know who Curve is. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
The first thing I suggest you do is go to UBL and purchase “Doppelganger,” “Cuckoo“, and “Come Clean“. Once you’ve paid your dues, put “Doppelganger” into the largest stereo system you can find — I suggest going to Best Buy or Palm Audio/Visual (in Huntsville). Turn the volume all the way up, and press “Play”.
